Name: Sean Govan (Aka Gov)

How long have you been at HQ/Frantic? I walked through the doors of frantic/HQ over 5 years ago now and haven’t looked back since.

What brought you through our doors?   I was looking for something different. I heard about Crossfit through a friend that I use to run with. So, my Dad and I heard that there was a new crossfit gym starting up in Beckenham, so we headed down to see what it was all about.

What do you remember about your first day?   Well… it was a Thursday morning at 6am (the only time to train). The class had maybe 3 people in it. Coach Coote greeted us at the door and right from the start, I knew I was going to enjoy what torture he had planned for me. The first WOD we completed was the Baseline WOD. 500m Row, 40 Air Squats, 30 Sit-ups, 20 Push-ups, and 10 Pull-ups. WOW!!! I’m pretty sure I finished the WOD in like 6:45 or something and couldn’t breathe when I had finished. I was totalled cooked at the end, but I was hooked after that!

What’s the workout that stands out to you the most and why? Hmm… there have been so many good and bad workouts. So many dark places visited and so many memorable moments!

One that is still in the back of my head is from an inhouse pair comp. It was Heavy Fran, 21, 15, 9 Thrusters @60kg and chest to bar pull-ups. I remember going flat out and completing the 21 thr

usters unbroken and then finished the first 21 chest to bars pull ups. Then the round of 15 hit me…Meanwhile I had my judge (Cody) and a few other members on the sideline cheering and screaming at me to keep moving even though I just needed a minute to breathe… That was my first experience visiting the dark side. It still haunts me, but I keep going back for more every day!

If you could have any super power what would it be and why? Flying like superman would be cool! Because…Who wouldn’t love that?

If you had to eat only one food for the rest of your life what would it be?   I know its not food… but Coffee. Can’t start the day with out a good cup of coffee or 5!
