Frequently Asked Questions

Our goal at Fitness HQ is to make your Fitter, Stronger, Happier. Our CrossFit classes are the lifeblood of what we do. Whether you have experience in CrossFit or not, from your first day with us you will be involved in classes and have the chance to meet our crew.

On top of CrossFit we have Personal Training for our beginners, those new to CrossFit or those trying to nail down the technique of a new skill. We have a couple of additional classes such as Olympic Lifting and Recovery Yoga.

In addition to training, we also have recovery services on site such as Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Massage Therapy. All sessions which can be booked in through the staff at the gym.

CrossFit is defined as constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. It is a combination of exercise and nutrition that has been proven to increase fitness and health for people of all ages and abilities. The program produces observable results that can be measured and replicated.

Yes. Everyone can do CrossFit regardless of age, injuries and current fitness levels. The program is modified for each person to help him or her safely become healthier and fitter. Grandparents and Olympians can perform modified versions of the same general workout.

No. The beauty of our program is we can tailor it to meet you where you are. We will challenge you, but that’s how you grow. It can be intimidating seeing other people in the gym throwing around weights;  running, riding and rowing like the wind; walking on their hands and swinging around a bar. But they were once beginners too. And they are your proof that you can do anything if you’re willing to work hard and be consistent.

We cannot guarantee that injuries don’t happen. Injury can happen from bending over and picking up a toothbrush. However despite the stigma, the rate of injury occurrence from CrossFit is far lower than the rate of injury in sports such as recreational running, football, netball, tennis and soccer. And the reason our injury rate is much lower, is because our coaches take movement technique very seriously and won’t let you attempt movements or loads we don’t believe you’re ready for. By doing a CrossFit class, you are always under the supervision of a well trained coach.

We don’t have a supervised creche. However we do have a collapsable kids playpen we can help set up for your littles to hang out in. We recommend you bring a few toys or things to keep them entertained and give you the peace to get a workout in.

We don’t have any nutrition specific programs that we run at Fitness HQ. However our staff have a world of experience between them and are alway happen to chat with you about your nutrition and changes you’re looking to make. We have a couple of different companies we refer to if we think you could benefit from guidance from people who know more about what you’re looking for.
